National
Association of Home Inspectors, Inc.
The National Association of Home Inspectors, Inc. (NAHI) was established in
1987 as a nonprofit association to promote and develop the home inspection
industry. The mission of the National Association of Home Inspectors is to
promote excellence and professionalism in the Home Inspection industry; to
provide a standards of practice and a code of ethics; to educate its
members; and to inform the public of the benefits and scope of a
professional home inspection. NAHI now has over 2300 members in 49 U.S.
states and Canada.
The
NAHI CRI “Certified Residential Inspector” designation is the highest
out of the three levels an inspector can achieve. NAHI CRI membership is
bestowed upon home inspectors who demonstrate their knowledge of, and
proficiency at, all aspects of home inspection. The NAHI CRI is received
only after an individual has conducted 250 inspections, has passed the
extensive required examination, and met all requirements set forth by the
Board of Directors. The NAHI CRI membership level requires recertification
on an annual basis. All NAHI CRI Members must complete sixteen (16)
Continuing Education Units (CEUs) per year. Sixteen CEUs is equal to 16
hours of classroom study. Currently less than 10% of NAHI’s home inspectors
are registered as a CRI.

The
NEHA National Radon Proficiency Program is the leading certification
program for radon professionals in North America. We’re pleased to note that
our program was officially deemed equivalent to the USEPA’s certification
program in 2001. Since then, through the professional efforts of the
National Environmental Health Association and the American Association of
Radon Scientists and Technologists, and the independent oversight of both an
independent Policy Advisory Board and Education Advisory Board, consisting
of 16 public and private sector officials, educators, practitioners and well
respected scientists, the NRRP program has grown into the largest body of
radon professionals anywhere in the world. The NEHA-NRPP program is also
supported administratively through both the staff of the American
Association of Radon Scientist’s and independent scientists and technical
advisors who serve on the AARST Technical and Science committee.
